Keyword Cannibalization
Keyword cannibalization happens when two or more pages on the same site compete for the same search query, splitting ranking signals instead of concentrating them behind one page.
Rather than doubling a site's chances of ranking well, two competing pages usually mean links, clicks, and topical relevance get divided between them — and Google's choice of which one to show can flip unpredictably as it re-evaluates which is the better match.
Not every overlap counts: two pages can cover related ground without cannibalizing each other if they're genuinely aimed at different search intent.
