The difference

We don't pretend an average is a ranking

Search Console reports an average position — blended across devices, locations and personalised results, and a few days behind. It is the best free signal of what people actually search for on your site, and it is not the same thing as your rank today.

So we show both, separately and labelled. The average tells you where demand is. The verified check tells you where you stand. Most tools blend the two into one number and hope you don't ask which it is.
